You should understand every option — not just the ones your dealer carries.

When most people buy a wheelchair, they see two or three choices. A dealer shows them what's in stock, what they're set up to service, or what hits their targets that month. You pick from that list. But that list is never the whole picture.

What you're usually not told

Every wheelchair dealer carries a limited catalog. Some have exclusive distribution agreements with manufacturers — meaning they literally cannot sell you certain brands. Others have volume commitments: sell 50 of this model this quarter, get a better price. None of this gets disclosed when they hand you a brochure. The result: you make a decision based on an incomplete set of options, without knowing it's incomplete.

What "understanding every option" actually looks like

When I work with you, I start from the full market, not a catalog. We talk through what you actually need — your diagnosis, your daily environment, your transfer style, your body measurements, your budget, your long-term ownership plan. Then I map that onto every chair that could plausibly work for you. Including ones I'd recommend against, and why. You don't pick from a list I built for other reasons. You make an informed decision from a picture you actually understand.

The tradeoffs I explain — in plain language

Frame rigidity vs. foldability. Titanium vs. aluminum vs. carbon fiber. Rigid rear axle vs. quick-release. Anti-tip vs. no anti-tip. Front rigging vs. elevating vs. none. Rear wheel diameter and its effect on propulsion arc. Camber and its effect on width vs. stability. Seat height and its relationship to your floor-to-footrest clearance, center of gravity, and transfer height. These aren't technical trivia — they directly affect how your body feels and functions every single day. You should know them before you sign anything.

What this means in practice

Sometimes the right chair costs less than what you were going to buy. Sometimes the right chair is a brand you've never heard of. Sometimes the right call is to push back on what a prescribing therapist or a dealer recommended, because they were optimizing for something other than your daily life. My job is to make sure you have the full picture — even when that's inconvenient for a sale.
