Trust · No brand deals
No distribution agreements. No volume targets. No co-marketing funds.
Every wheelchair dealer has some kind of relationship with the brands they carry. Some of those relationships are just business. Some of them create real pressure that shapes what you get recommended — and you'd never know from the outside.
What a brand deal actually is
A brand deal in the wheelchair industry usually takes one of a few forms: a distribution agreement (exclusive right to sell a brand in a territory), a volume commitment (agreement to sell a minimum number of units to maintain a pricing tier), or a co-marketing arrangement (manufacturer funds go to the dealer in exchange for featured placement or priority recommendations). Any of these can subtly or directly influence what a dealer shows you.
Why it's hard to detect from outside
Dealers don't usually disclose these arrangements unless asked — and most patients don't know to ask. The recommendation sounds clinical ("this frame would work well for your situation") when it might be commercially motivated. You're told about three chairs. You don't know there are six others that would also work, two of which might be better fits.
My position
I have no distribution agreements with any manufacturer. I don't have volume commitments that require me to push specific brands. I don't receive co-marketing funds that reward me for recommending certain products. I'm not constrained by what a manufacturer allows me to sell or what I've committed to sell to maintain my pricing tier. The only filter on the recommendation is whether the chair fits your situation.
What this means for you
It means the conversation starts with you — not with a catalog, not with what's in stock, not with what moves the needle on a volume commitment. You get a recommendation based on the full market, evaluated against your actual needs. If the best chair for you is from a brand I have no special relationship with, that's the chair I recommend.
